Division 2 - Maesglas Reserves 2 v 4 Cardigan Reserves
Maesglas and Cardigan Town 2nd Teams kicked off the start of the new season on Tuesday 25 August and showed the spectators some excellent football. Cardigan Town were quick to control the game from the start with Chris Truslove opening the score line with a great header.
With the Blues still struggling to contain Towns midfield and forwards, Mike Diggle then scored again. Maesglas began to regroup and pushed hard and managed to get a goal back after a great strike from Emlyn George that was slotted under the cross bar from the edge of the 18 yard box. By half time the game was almost wrapped up after goals from Trevor Woodgate and Mike Diggle made it 4-1 Cardigan.
Maesglas rallied their players and they came out in the 2nd half with clear intent to pull the game back and deservedly managed to get one more goal from Steffan Evans. Both teams lost players due to injury during the 2nd half.
The game ended 4-2 Cardigan Town 2nd Team in a game that despite being a local derby was played within the spirit of good football and sportsmanship.
Thanks to Ceri Adams-Lewis of Cardigan for the report. |
